Jumping Blainville’s $60,000 World Cup Qualifier Captured By Francois Lamontagne and Anton

Blainville, QC – July 18, 2010 – The impressive $60,000 World Cup Qualifier was snagged by Québec rider Francois Lamontagne and his young horse Anton. The pair topped the class finishing the jump-off in a double-clear 37.06 seconds. Lamontagne was given a cooler, champagne, and rosette along with the large percentage of the prize money for his amazing finish. Earning the second place honors was Ljubov Kochetova (RUS) and Aslan who also completed both courses fault-free.

Lauren Hunkin Leaps to Victory Aboard Larry 0146 in FEI Open Welcome at Jumping Blainville

Blainville, QC – July 16, 2010 -Two top equestrians, Lauren Hunkin and Christine McCrea battled for the top award at Friday night’s FEI Open Welcome Class during the Classique Internationale de Blainville (Jumping Blainville). Hunkin and Larry 0146’s ambition and speed would earn them the winning rosette after flying through the jump-off in 31.96 seconds.

Hawley is Selected to Carry the Olympic Torch in 2010!

It is truly an honor to carry the Olympic Torch and Hawley Bennett has been selected in 2010.

Hawley first entered the contest back in 1988, only 11 years old at that time, to carry the torch through Langley. Entrants had to write a speech about why they wanted to carry it, and what it meant to them, and present the speech several times.

Gin & Juice Named Omega Alpha Canadian Event Horse of the Month for June

July 13, 2009 — The Canadian Eventing Committee has named Gin & Juice as Omega Alpha Canadian Event Horse of the Month for June.

Gin & Juice is co-owned by Canadian Olympian Hawley Bennett and American Linda Paine. The nine-year-old bay Thoroughbred mare won the CCI 3* division at the 23rd edition of the CCI Bromont Three Day Event, The Todd Sandler Challenge held in Bromont, QC, June 10–14, 2009.

Kachemak Bay Named Omega Alpha Canadian Event Horse of the Month for May

June 15, 2009 — The Canadian Eventing Committee has named Kachemak Bay as Omega Alpha Canadian Event Horse of the Month for May.

Kachemak Bay, Frankie Simpson’s 15-year-old Canadian Thoroughbred gelding, finished as the top Canadian entry, in fourth place, at the 2009 edition of the Jersey Fresh CCI 3* Three Day Event, held May 7–10, 2009, in Allentown, New Jersey, USA.

Colombo Named Inaugural Omega Alpha Canadian Event Horse of the Month

The winning ways of Canadian event horse Colombo have secured him yet another top honour in his illustrious career-Omega Alpha Canadian Event Horse of the Month.

Colombo, a 14-year-old Swedish Warmblood gelding, owned by Elaine and Michael Davies of Kingston, ON, finished as the top Canadian entry at the prestigious Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event, the only four star three-day event in the Americas, held April 23-26, 2009, at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, USA, the site of the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games.

Omega Alpha Sponsors the Programme de développement de l’excellence

The Programme de développement de l’excellence has acquired the support of Omega Alpha Pharmaceuticals Inc. The goal of this program, which is run by the Fédération équestre du Québec (FEQ), is to support promising athletes in the three Olympic equestrian disciplines: dressage, eventing and show jumping. Riders are categorized as Espoir, Relève, Élite or Excellence and receive bursaries and tax credits accordingly.
